Today was the Ivy League Connection Orientation, where parents and students gathered to learn about this program's rules and regulations and the itinerary for each cohort. The Orientation started at 6 PM and finished at 8 PM.
Don and Mr. Ramsey stood in front of us all and told us stories of the past ILC'ers who had done things right and had done things wrong. These stories provided examples for the parents, students, and chaperones of what is and is not acceptable.
At one point, everyone broke out into their cohort groups. Mr. Hillyer told our UPenn group about our flight plans, the schools we would be touring, and a brief summary of what we should expect this summer. After the mini meeting, everyone gathered back in the multipurpose room of Pinole Middle School, where the orientation was being held, and had final questions answered.
It is all becoming so real. I will be leaving for the University of Pennsylvania on June 25th, just 3 weeks from now. I am ready and excited for this adventure, and I cannot wait to take in all of the knowledge I will learn at UPenn and my experience this summer. I am counting down the days!
For most of our ILCers, this is the point in the process where they all realize it’s going to happen. It;s no longer just a concept--it’s for real and you know that before long you’ll be enjoying the heat, the humidity and the completely different world known as the East Coast.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always wondered why the North East is called the East Coast but they never really consider the Carolinas, Georgia or Florida as being a part of the East Coast.
