It's been a pretty interesting day - both good and bad. Second week of classes started and I felt fresh. There appears to be an augmented gravitational field, time seems to dilute shorter and shorter for every day that passes. It's wonderful because I want to fully enjoy this experience but it's unbelievable to think that the close friends that I have now were distant and unknown weeks ago. I can't fathom that I still have three weeks left of this program... I really don't want this to end but I'll have to move on. Anyways, onto today!
To the left: the light that is distinct from the others is trapped inside the cylinder. At a certain angle (critical angle), the light refracts slow enough that the light cannot escape. It appears in curves but it is actually refracting as straight lines. To the right: Bill is demonstrating the misconception between voltage and amps. It's the most improperly used term in everyday life. Voltage is the potential electric energy that the object can apply and amps is the "velocity" of the electrons flowing. If an object has a high amount of amps, the electrons flow swiftly and thus applies a high amount of energy. Next to Bill is a 100k Voltage ball, and he later used a metal rod to produce small electric sparks. He later used his hand; however, he was not fatally injured because the ball has a small current(amps) and thus, low amounts of energy.
After lollygagging and socializing, I head out to eat Philly cheese steaks. As many of my friends know, I had an awful experience with cheese steaks that resulted in a bad stomach and a hate for cheese steaks. However, Juan(my Resident Counselor) guaranteed that the place we were going to was top-notch, so I decided to try it. I do not regret my decision - eating cheese steaks at a quality place blew my taste buds. It wasn't too thick, and the vegetables accumulated into a grand tasting sandwich.
Now to the bad news. I was playing American football with 7 of my friends and coincidentally, my friend Alex had sunglasses on. I'm minuscule compared to him - he's 6"2. I jumped - trying to intercept a pass - and I didn't get it because I was so short. The ball hits Alex and his sunglasses break(the glasses are my friend Michelle's). The shards that were left over were nothing to be afraid of... or so I thought. The probability of me stepping on the shards were close to none. However, I happened to run in the spot where one of the shards were and it pierces my heel. I thought that it wasn't too bad so I went up to my room to get a band-aid for it. After two minutes of limping up the stairs, I notice all the blood. I panicked and I quickly walked to my room. My friend Adam runs up the stairs and tells me that I have to go to the office to get treatment. He gives me a piggy-back ride because the blood is dripping everywhere. I get treated and eventually, I'm fine. I feel really embarrassed about this whole ordeal because of all the blood that was on the floor. They had to close the floors for twenty minutes to clean up all the blood that was on the floors. It was a fiasco, and somehow everyone found out that it was me. How embarrassing. Oh well, it'll be a great story to tell in the future.
Where did you go to get the cheese steak? Hope your foot is okay!
